Located on the outskirts of the city of Oświęcim, on County Road 933, the Auschwitz Birkenau Museum offers a starting point for a historical visit. The Auschwitz Birkenau Museum tour starts in the former part of the Auschwitz I camp. The Visitor Services Center is located on Więźniów Oświęcimia 55 Street. As part of the Auschwitz Birkenau Museum tour, we will reach this center via Legionów Street (DW 933).

The Auschwitz Birkenau Museum is located about 1,500 meters from the train station. There is a multi-story Park & Ride parking lot near the station. From April to October, a special "M" line runs between the station and the P&R. This line runs daily between 09.00-16.00 and has a journey time of five minutes. Tickets are available from automatic ticket machines. Buses of the Lajkonik company run from Kraków directly to the Museum parking lot. Bus and minibus stops from Kraków and Katowice are also nearby.

The Auschwitz Birkenau Museum is open to visitors every day of the year. However, there are certain dates to consider when planning your visit. January 1, December 25, and Easter Sunday are special days when the museum is closed to visitors. The doors of the museum open in different months and at different times, so it is important to pay attention to these details when planning your visit:

• In December, visiting hours start at 07:30 and continue throughout the day until 14:00.
• In January and November, the museum welcomes visitors at 07:30 and is open until 15:00.
• In February, visitors can enter at 07:30 and enjoy the museum until 16:00.
• In March and October, the museum opens at 07:30 and is open until 17:00.
• In April, May and September, visiting hours start at 07:30 and continue until 18:00.
• In June, July and August the museum opens at 07:30 and welcomes visitors until 19:00.

Also, taking photos in the garden of the State Museum Auschwitz Birkenau in Oświęcim is done without using flash and tripods, although it is allowed for special occasions.
