Buses form the backbone of local transport, supported by a small metro network and a modern tram line. To use public transport in Seville, a valid ticket is required.

Public transport in Seville follows a split system. Buses and trams are operated by TUSSAM and use their own tickets and travelcards, while the metro has a separate fare structure. Single-ride tickets are available for all modes, complemented by discounted multi-ride cards and tourist travelcards.

Single tickets are intended for occasional use and are purchased individually for each mode of transport.

Tarjeta Multiviaje – Bus & Tram

The Tarjeta Multiviaje is a reloadable plastic card used for discounted travel on Seville’s buses and tram network operated by TUSSAM. It is the most common ticket choice for both residents and visitors who plan to use public transport regularly. The card requires a 1.50 €, 1.65 $* refundable deposit and is available from TUSSAM sales points, ticket offices and authorized vendors across the city.

Bonometro – Metro

The Bonometro is a separate rechargeable card used exclusively for Seville’s metro system. It cannot be used on buses or trams and follows a different fare structure. The non-refundable card costs 1.50 €, 1.65 $*, and is available from ticket machines and sales points at metro stations.

Time-Based Tickets (Tourist Travelcards)

Time-based tickets in Seville are offered exclusively as tourist travelcards. They allow unlimited travel on TUSSAM buses and trams, but are not valid on the metro or the airport bus EA. They require a 1.50 €, 1.65 $* refundable card deposit.

Ticket Validation and Use

Once you have decided on the ticket or travelcard that works best for you and purchased it, you need to validate it before or at the start of each journey.

Paper Tickets

Paper tickets are mainly used for single journeys and must always be validated at the start of the journey.

On buses, tickets are validated using the onboard validation machine
On the metro, tickets are validated at the station barriers
An unvalidated paper ticket is considered invalid and may result in a fine

Reloadable Cards (Bus, Tram and Metro)

Reloadable cards store rides or travel validity digitally and require physical validation at the beginning of each journey.

Smartphone App – The Most Convenient Option

Digital tickets in Seville are issued exclusively through the official transport app Consorcio de Transportes.

Tickets must be activated in the app before boarding

Contactless and Online Payment

Contactless payment is supported mainly as a purchase method, not as a universal boarding system.

Tram

The tram is convenient for short central connections, but most routes are also easily walkable or served by buses. It is fully integrated into the city’s ticket system
