Christiansborg Palace is a symbol of Danish government, located on Slotsholmen island in the heart of Copenhagen. This Neo-baroque masterpiece is the third palace to be built on the site, with its predecessors destroyed by fires in 1794 and 1884. Today, Christiansborg is the only building in the world that houses all three branches of government—executive, legislative, and judicial. With this skip-the-line ticket, you'll enjoy direct access to the palace’s most fascinating areas.
Begin your tour in the Royal Representation Rooms, where official events are held. These rooms are lavishly decorated and include the Great Hall, which houses the Queen’s Tapestries. These stunning works of art depict over 1,000 years of Danish history, from the Viking Age to the present.
Descend beneath the palace to explore the Ruins of Absalon’s Castle, the remains of a medieval fortress built in 1167 by Bishop Absalon. As you wander through these ancient ruins, you’ll gain insight into Copenhagen’s early history and the castle’s significance in the country’s development.
During your visit, you can also explore the Royal Stables, home to the Danish monarchy’s majestic white horses, used for royal ceremonies. The stables, dating back to the 18th century, provide a glimpse into Denmark’s royal equestrian tradition. Please note, the horses are away from mid-June to early August for summer grazing, but the stables and carriages remain open.
The Royal Kitchen is another highlight, offering a fascinating look at how grand royal banquets were prepared. See the original copper pots and tools that were once used to serve the Danish royal family and their guests.
End your tour with a visit to the Palace Tower, Copenhagen’s tallest tower at 106 meters. From here, enjoy breathtaking views of the city’s skyline and beyond, making for a perfect conclusion to your day at Christiansborg Palace.
