Pena Palace stands as a masterpiece of 19th-century Romanticism, blending Manueline and Moorish architectural influences. The palace is divided into two main wings: the former Manueline monastery of the Order of St. Jerome, and the 19th-century expansion led by King Ferdinand II. The surrounding structure, resembling a fairy-tale castle with battlements, watchtowers, and even a drawbridge, transports visitors into a whimsical world.

Once a monastery, the palace was transformed into a royal summer residence by King Ferdinand, heavily inspired by the romantic German castles along the Rhine. Its vibrant pink and ochre-colored exterior, restored in 1994, adds to the palace’s magical allure. Surrounding the palace is the lush Park of Pena, which King Ferdinand designed to reflect the beauty of nature. This exotic garden features over 500 species of trees from around the world, winding paths, and secluded retreats.

Whether you're admiring the stunning interiors or exploring the expansive parklands, Pena Palace offers a perfect blend of history, culture, and nature. Capture iconic views and discover the fascinating history behind this UNESCO World Heritage site.
